The role defines requirements, governs cloud-to-vehicle interfaces, ensures supplier implementation alignment, and validates compliance with Ford architecture, cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory, and customer-experience expectations. It bridges product requirements, vehicle engineering, cloud services, privacy compliance, provisioning, telematics, fleet services, OTA updates, and supplier integration. The FSE defines connected-feature behavior and interfaces and ensures supplier implementations follow Ford standards. Responsibilities span systems architecture and requirements, supplier leadership, cloud and backend services, customer onboarding and HMI, privacy and cybersecurity, software-update governance, manufacturing provisioning, connected-feature behavior, verification and validation, and fleet telematics services.

  • 5+ years of experience supporting complex product development or service launches, integrations, or validation cycles, coordinating across internal organizations and external suppliers, and resolving or documenting integration issues.
  • 5+ years of experience defining or reviewing connected-product or service architecture, including system interfaces and deliverables such as interface specifications, sequence diagrams, or data-flow diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.

  • Define and govern cloud-integration requirements, customer authorization, account-linking and VIN-association workflows, backend activation and deactivation, fleet management, feature packages, and remote-command cloud services.
  • Define customer authorization and onboarding experiences, connected-services disclaimers and setup-wizard behavior, UI/UX expectations for privacy and account management, and profile synchronization and user-management expectations.
  • Define privacy controls, consent requirements, and data-sharing behaviors; ensure compliance with cybersecurity, privacy, and ePrivacy requirements; define regional compliance and regulatory reporting; and govern fleet-privacy and dual-consent frameworks.
  • Define OTA/MMOTA deployment requirements and strategies, software-update content, rollout policies, version governance, and cloud deployment requirements for emissions, battery-health, and regulatory data reporting.
  • Define End-of-Line provisioning and cloud-registration requirements; govern Sync key allocation and supplier-feed integration; and define cloud-triggered carrier provisioning and SIM activation.
  • Define operational behavior, command responses, and status reporting for remote climate control, remote start, lock/unlock, vehicle health alerts, vehicle location, EV charging, panic alarms, and stolen-vehicle services.
  • Define fleet telematics signals, events, and command capabilities.
  • Verify supplier compliance with Ford-defined architectures and requirements; validate signal mappings, telemetry behavior, status reporting, and cloud integrations; and confirm regulatory, privacy, and customer-experience requirements are met.
  • Define fleet enrollment and feature-package management requirements; govern telematics payloads, data integrity, and reporting expectations; and define fleet remote-command authorization and lifecycle management.
