About The Position

Select Genetics is a leading supplier of poults to growers and companies worldwide. The Farm Manager works to ensure efficient farm operations and meet or exceed production goals. The role includes leading and developing farm employees, reviewing progress toward objectives, and coordinating with the Serviceman to adjust objectives and plans based on current conditions. The position involves working with live animals, cleaning and disinfecting turkey production facilities, and complying with company requirements for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety. Duties may change according to company needs, and other duties may be assigned by the direct supervisor. The work requires frequent movement and hand use, occasional lifting, and exposure to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals, and fumes. The manager must be able to work extended days, nights, and weekends when needed, and work varied schedules that include some weekends.

Requirements

Basic math skills.
Basic computer skills are preferred.
Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good reading skills.
Ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull, and lift 50 pounds or more.
Ability to perform duties while constantly moving and using hands, with occasional lifting, and while exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals, and fumes.
Ability to work extended days, nights, and weekends when needed, and varied schedules including some weekends.
Effective time management.
High school diploma or equivalent, or two years of related experience.
Must not own or operate around backyard poultry, fowl, or swine operations while off duty.
A valid Missouri Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record if needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience with live animals or turkey farms.
Knowledge of or experience with animal husbandry and welfare.
Basic computer skills.
Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills.

Responsibilities

Wash and disinfect turkey production facilities safely and in an organized manner.
Follow company rules and regulations for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.
Work productively with peers and help in any area needed to complete the work.
Work with a variety of tools and equipment and successfully handle live animals.
Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
Run and review activity reports to determine progress and status toward objectives.
Confer with the Serviceman to revise objectives and plans in response to current conditions.
Lead, train, motivate, and mentor farm employees to build and maintain a high-performing team and meet or exceed production goals.
Present a positive and professional image of the company and demonstrate courtesy and professionalism.
Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor; responsibilities may change according to company needs.
