About The Position

Eliot is seeking Family Support Specialists for its Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) division, working in the Healthy Families program. This parenting education initiative supports first-time parents in creating a stable, nurturing environment for their child. The specialist provides personalized guidance and support in families’ homes, educating parents about pregnancy, baby care, nurturing and attachment, effective parenting skills, and healthy child development.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children and families.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish and English; bilingual candidates fluent in a needed language may be eligible for a 6% salary increase.
• Bachelor’s degree; compensation is $21.75 per hour for candidates with a bachelor’s degree, compared with $20.60 per hour for a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Educate parents on optimal health, growth, and development during infancy and early childhood.
• Encourage positive parenting skills, support parental health and wellness, and improve educational attainment.
• Assist parents in setting and achieving goals related to education, work, and housing.
• Connect families with community resources, including educational, employment, financial, housing, and medical services.
• Encourage co-parent involvement in program groups and activities.
