About The Position
If teaching is your passion, this is an outstanding opportunity to help shape the next generation of family physicians within an established Family Medicine Residency Program. You will join a collaborative leadership team that includes Core Faculty and the Program Director while contributing to resident education, mentorship, scholarly activity, and patient care. The program supports 16 residents per year and provides the resources needed to foster a strong academic environment. At the same time, you will maintain your own outpatient practice and continue delivering high-quality community-based care.
Requirements
- Board Certification in Family Medicine
- DEA certification
- Michigan medical license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Michigan
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Knowledge of preventative medicine principles and practices
- Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and community health centers
- Demonstrated ability to access, analyze, and apply medical literature to clinical practice
- Strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills
- Effective communication skills with patients and their families
Nice To Haves
- 3-5 years of Family Medicine experience highly preferred
- Previous academic experience highly preferred
- Experience with outpatient medical faculty preferred
Responsibilities
- Teach and supervise residents in the ambulatory setting
- Serve as an advisor, mentor, and role model for Family Medicine residents
- Develop and participate in resident didactic education
- Present educational sessions and participate in resident journal clubs
- Mentor residents on senior projects and participate in research activities
- Contribute to ACGME-required scholarly activity
- Participate in resident recruitment, including application review, interviews, and recruitment events
- Outpatient Family Medicine practice with direct patient care responsibilities
