About The Position

Cascades East Family Medicine Center in Klamath Falls, Oregon, offers a unique rural medicine experience within a certified Patient Centered Primary Care Medical Home that emphasizes team-based care and innovation. As the only hospital for the Klamath Basin, Sky Lakes Medical Center provides a setting with a strong medical community and populations with significant healthcare needs, making it an ideal place to practice primary care. Providers work in a collaborative interprofessional team, offering the full scope of family medicine and caring for patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. The practice supports comprehensive care, including obstetrics, substance use disorder treatment (with medication-assisted treatment), and gender-affirming care. OHSU is committed to diversity and inclusivity for all patients. The appointee will serve as a clinician at Cascades East Family Medicine Center with privileges at Sky Lakes Medical Center, holding a primary appointment in Family Medicine. Clinical duties will be performed at this site and other approved locations. The role involves practicing clinical medicine, collaborating with faculty, seeing patients in clinic (eight half-days per week), and dedicating two half-days for administrative tasks. The expected patient visit volume is 8-10 per half-day, depending on complexity. Documentation will be managed through an electronic health record, adhering to OHSU and facility policies. The position requires participation in expanded access hours, including evenings, weekends, and call coverage. A strong commitment to developing a vibrant clinical and academic operation, both professionally and financially, is expected. Teaching activities are also part of the role. Compensation includes a base academic salary and a clinical salary, commensurate with experience and rural practice sites. Inpatient care with shared call duties may be included by mutual agreement.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Licensed in Oregon
  • M.D./D.O. degree
  • Graduate medical education in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency
  • Capable of providing comprehensive health services
  • Certified to prescribe

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with full and part time faculty to maintain an active practice
  • Directly see patients in their clinic eight half days per week
  • Dedicate two half days per week for administrative duties
  • Document using the electronic health record and maintain complete and timely patient care documentation
  • Participate in seeing patients during expanded access hours, including evenings and weekends, and call coverage
  • Develop the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation
  • Be available for teaching activities
  • Provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
