About The Position

MUSC Health is seeking a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible internal medicine or family medicine physician to join a new primary care clinic scheduled to open in late 2026 in Florence, South Carolina. The role offers the opportunity to build a career within an academic health system while helping improve rural healthcare access in the PeeDee division.

The physician will join MUSC Mt Laurel Primary Care, located across from the main hospital campus, alongside two experienced physicians, three advanced practice providers, and dedicated support staff. MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is a regional acute care facility with 396 patient beds, more than 1,500 employees, and nearly 300 physicians across major specialties.

The position is 100% outpatient, with a Monday–Friday schedule listed as 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and one half-day per week. The role includes minimal shared call, dedicated onsite support staff, and customized ramp-up time with local marketing and outreach support. MUSC Health offers ongoing education, mentorship, leadership development, and clinical and operational resources for physicians.

Requirements

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• Unrestricted South Carolina licensure.
• Federal and state controlled substance registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient primary care to patients in the Florence, South Carolina area.
• Contribute to improving access to rural healthcare within the PeeDee division.
• Participate in a team-based care model with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff.
