About The Position

This is a full-time position (30-35 hours per week) for a Family Assistant & Household Manager in Aledo, TX. The role focuses on household management, meal preparation, transportation, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized, and reliable individual who can anticipate needs and manage a busy household with minimal direction. The family consists of two working parents, one child in college, an 8th grader involved in sports, a senior dog, and a cat. The position requires flexibility, clear communication, and the ability to maintain a smooth-running household, allowing the parents to focus on work and family time. This role is not a hands-on nanny or childcare-focused position.

Requirements

  • Able to maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
  • Up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis A/B, COVID-19, and annual influenza), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
  • Comfortable working in a home with dogs and cats.
  • CPR and First Aid certified (or willingness to become certified).
  • Proactive thinker who anticipates needs and takes initiative.
  • Comfortable managing a busy teenager’s schedule.
  • Organized, reliable, and communicative.
  • Strong moral compass.

  • Confident coordinating with vendors, prepping meals, managing household logistics, and providing a steady, engaging presence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for the 8th grader to school, sports, and activities.
  • Supervise and drive the 8th grader to age-appropriate outings with friends.
  • Prepare school snacks and lunches.
  • Manage kid-related errands and appointments.
  • Own and continuously improve household organization systems.
  • Perform daily household resets: load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, declutter, vacuum high-traffic areas, and tidy the TV room.
  • Prepare the home for biweekly cleaning services.
  • Conduct seasonal swaps for clothing and décor.
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Assist with birthday party preparations.
  • Prep for weekend baseball tournaments (clean uniforms, pack gear and snacks).
  • Help with unpacking and organizing after baseball tournament travel.
  • Proactively manage and anticipate needs based on the family's Skylight calendar.
  • Coordinate with the cleaner for occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards).
  • Refresh and maintain the garage.
  • Clean air purifiers.
  • Manage organizational projects (inside/outside fridges, freezer, gear) as requested.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage running lists for household orders and subscriptions, communicating needs to the family.
  • Independently manage and execute errands such as returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping/wrapping.
  • Handle mail and package processing, including sorting junk mail.
  • Break down boxes.
  • Plan and prep 2-3 healthy dinners per week.
  • Prep healthy snacks for school and sports.
  • Manage the supply of snacks and items for school lunches.
  • Shop for groceries and proactively refill items.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization.
  • Manage household laundry systems: wash, fold, and organize.
  • Hang laundry to dry.
  • Perform ironing/steaming and special garment care.
  • Manage linen rotation (every other week).
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.
  • Feed the dog as needed.
  • Fill the cat feeder.
  • Manage cat litter: empty litter tray weekly and vacuum cat litter from the floor.
  • Administer monthly preventative medications for the dog.
  • Maintain pet supplies and ensure they are stocked.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for cleaners, contractors, and landscapers.
  • Coordinate with the family for vendor payments.
  • Proactively identify, research, and coordinate home maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate with contractors for seasonal outdoor décor.
  • Arrange exterminators and be on-site during service.
  • Manage outdoor spaces (sweep patios, water flowers, sweep/skim pool).
  • Perform ad hoc vehicle maintenance as needed.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $28-33/hour based on experience.
