About The Position

We’re looking for someone who can bring calm, capable support and help simplify the day-to-day for a busy family of four living in a vibrant, walkable neighborhood. The family needs consistent help to keep things running smoothly, as their schedules can shift. One parent travels extensively, and the other has irregular hours with a locally based non-profit. Reliable support on the home front is especially valuable. The ideal candidate will bring a steady presence, take initiative, and genuinely enjoy helping a household function smoothly. Flexibility and adaptability are important, along with the ability to anticipate needs and keep things moving without constant direction. Patience, warmth, and intelligence are deeply valued, as is an understanding of children and creating a sense of safety and stability. Attentiveness to household routines, details, and food-related safety is crucial. The role requires a discrete, trustworthy, and professional individual who takes pride in creating order behind the scenes.

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Comfortable navigating the city and public transportation

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and streamline existing household systems
  • Daily resets and light tidying: dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Prep home for cleaners (bi-weekly)
  • Seasonal clothing, decor, and bedding swaps
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors
  • Pickups/drop-offs daily
  • Light supervision/back-up childcare
  • Prep snacks for kids
  • Kid-related errands
  • Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies
  • Manage running household supply lists
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
  • Handle returns and dry cleaning
  • Mail and package handling
  • Breakdown boxes
  • Order and manage home meal delivery service for family meals
  • Keep fridge and pantry stocked
  • Prep school lunches during school year
  • Grocery shopping for snacks, lunch items, and pantry staples
  • Coordinate snack needs for afterschool programs
  • Follow strict allergy protocols (peanut, shellfish, tree nuts, eggs, sesame)
  • Kitchen cleanup and maintenance
  • Wash/fold/organize laundry
  • Linen rotation
  • Maintain tidy and well stocked laundry areas
  • Occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refresh garage/mudroom/entry
  • Organizational projects (toys, gear, linen closet)
  • Oversee cleaners/contractors/landscapers
  • Research/coordinate repairs and quotes
  • Manage outdoor spaces seasonally
  • Travel planning and logistics
  • Calendar management with Skylight
  • Receipt/budget tracking for project management / repairs, travel expenses, etc.
