About The Position

We are a busy, faith-filled family of seven living in Tupelo, Mississippi, with five children ranging from newborn to early elementary age. Our home is full, noisy, and beautifully lived-in. We are seeking a Household Manager & Family Assistant to help us maintain a peaceful, well-run home, prepare wholesome meals, and support our children in contributing to the household. The ideal candidate will become a trusted part of our daily life, bringing calm and capability to help us protect precious family time, especially around the dinner table. We value a home centered around faith, family, and service, and are looking for someone who can navigate conversations with our children with kindness, compassion, and grace, regardless of their own belief system. This role is part-time, 20-25 hours per week, with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM, with some flexibility preferred. Additional hours may be available for travel or special projects. Compensation is $24–$28 per hour, commensurate with experience. The start date is ASAP.

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation, clean driving record, and valid driver's license (mileage reimbursement provided for work-related driving)
  • CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain upon employment

  • Candidates are required to disclose if they have received a live vaccine (such as MMR) within the previous six weeks, as the household member must avoid contact during that period based on medical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with school pickups Monday through Thursday (either picking up children or staying home to care for younger children)
  • Occasionally transport children to after-school activities (ballet, gymnastics, etc.)
  • Provide attentive childcare and supervision while supporting the stay-at-home parent throughout the day
  • Prepare backpacks, snacks, and school lunches for the following day
  • Support children in their after-school routines, empowering them to be contributing members of the household
  • Create and maintain household organization systems that are functional, sustainable, and adaptable as the family's needs change across life stages
  • Manage organization and daily resets for high-traffic drop zones
  • Reset and tidy daily: wipe surfaces, load and unload dishwasher, take out trash, vacuum high-traffic areas, and other general upkeep between cleaning visits
  • Complete a full home reset before the end of each shift so the home is calm and tidy when the family reconvenes in the evening
  • Manage seasonal clothing transitions (e.g., swap wardrobes by season, identify outgrown items, coordinate donations)
  • Change air filters, batteries, and light bulbs on a scheduled or as-needed basis
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel (3–4 times per year)
  • Openness to occasional travel with the family (private accommodations provided) preferred
  • Take full ownership of family laundry (e.g., wash, dry, fold, and put away)
  • Iron, steam, and perform other special garment care as needed
  • Maintain tidy, well-stocked laundry areas
  • Rotate linens and towels as needed
  • Assist with managing and maintaining online grocery orders
  • Organize, wash, chop, prep, and properly store groceries upon arrival, ensuring fresh produce is ready for grab-and-go snacks and meal preparation
  • Execute up to one fully prepared dinner per week when requested (recipe provided)
  • Prepare school lunches the evening before school
  • Perform occasional in-person fresh produce runs as needed
  • Maintain clean and organized kitchen throughout the shift
  • Keep pantry, refrigerator, and household supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) stocked
  • Manage returns, donation drop-offs (Goodwill, post office), occasional gift shopping (teacher gifts, birthdays), and other misc. errands as requested
  • Bring in packages, organize mail, and break down boxes
  • Feed the family dogs
  • Schedule vet or grooming appointments as needed
  • Maintain pet supplies
  • Perform occasional spot cleaning and illness-related deep cleaning as needed
  • Assist with occasional organizational projects (toys, gear, seasonal storage) as requested
