The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Oklahoma State University invites applications for one open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Geotechnical Engineering. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level must demonstrate potential to develop a strong externally funded research program. Candidates applying at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level must demonstrate a distinguished research and academic record. The School is particularly interested in candidates who can collaborate strategically with existing expertise within the department, college, and state. Candidates with research and teaching interests across geotechnical engineering will be considered, including unsaturated soil mechanics, geo-environmental engineering, foundation engineering, soil-structure interaction, slope stability, biogeotechnics, energy geotechnics, ground improvement methods, and computational geotechnics. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate geotechnical engineering courses in the Civil and Environmental Engineering curriculum and offer new and/or existing graduate courses in their area of expertise. Research resources include the Bert Cooper Engineering Research Laboratory, the High-Performance Computing Center, and well-equipped teaching and research laboratories dedicated to the CIVE program. The Bert Cooper laboratory includes a 6,000-square-foot strong-floor high-bay testing area within a 33,000-square-foot structural and materials engineering research facility. Oklahoma State University is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, approximately 60 miles from Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The School has 16 faculty members, 296 undergraduate students, and 59 graduate students. The Civil Engineering program has expanded with new offices and classrooms, as well as the Endeavor Lab, a 72,000-square-foot interdisciplinary undergraduate laboratory opened in fall 2018. Research expenditures are approximately $280,000 per faculty member. A Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a closely related field is required. Candidates are expected to hold a Professional Engineer license or obtain licensure within six years of appointment. Applications will be reviewed beginning November 1, 2026, and accepted until the position is filled or the search is terminated. Applicants should submit a single PDF containing a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement (maximum two pages) including a plan to secure external funding, teaching interests and philosophy statement (maximum two pages), and names and contact information for five references.
