About The Position

This faculty position provides support for the teaching, research, and patient care needs of the Department of Anesthesiology and helps fulfill UTMB’s threefold mission. The role provides direct patient care, including anesthesiology, preoperative services, and postoperative services. It participates in departmental teaching for medical students and house staff through conferences, lectures, operating-room instruction and supervision, continuing medical education, and local, regional, and national meetings. Administrative duties include supervising and evaluating residents, providing medical direction, and serving on departmental and Health System committees. The position includes dedicated research time. Salary is commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience. Requirements

Graduate of an approved medical school.
Completion of an approved residency training program.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
Unrestricted Texas Medical license.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care, including anesthesiology, preoperative services, and postoperative services.
Participate in departmental teaching activities, including conferences and lectures, operating-room instruction, house-staff supervision in the operating room, continuing medical education, and local, regional, and national meetings.
Teach medical students and house staff.
Supervise and evaluate residents.
Provide medical direction.
Participate in committee memberships at the departmental and Health System levels.
Contribute to the Department of Anesthesiology’s teaching, research, and patient-care needs and UTMB’s threefold mission.
