About The Position

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Galveston, Texas, is seeking a Family Medicine Faculty member. UTMB Health is a large academic health center with multiple hospitals, clinics, and schools, dedicated to advancing health sciences education, research, and patient care. The Department of Family Medicine has a long history and provides comprehensive care through its clinics and inpatient services. The department offers programs in medical student education, residency, faculty development, and research. This faculty position will be primarily clinical (90%) with a focus on patient care in clinic settings on Galveston Island, and will also involve education (10%), including teaching and supervision of Family Medicine residents and medical students. The physician may also share on-call responsibilities and cover other clinical services as needed, practicing within a patient-centered medical home model.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• A strong commitment to research, patient care, medical student, and resident education.
• U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, primarily in clinic settings on Galveston Island.
• Provide teaching and supervision of Family Medicine residents.
• Share on-call responsibilities, including evening and weekend hours.
• Precept medical students.
• Cover other clinical services as needed.
• Provide comprehensive health care with enhanced access for patients within a patient-centered medical home clinical model.
• Rotate through Island West (IE) or Dickinson Family Medicine Clinics as departmental need arises.
