The Department of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health at Texas A&M University invites applications for up to two tenure-track or tenured, open-rank faculty appointments in health economics. Candidates are expected to have strong research skills and excellent teaching ability. Successful candidates will conduct independent and collaborative research, obtain extramural funding, maintain a robust publication record, contribute to the Department’s educational programs, and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Faculty have fully funded (“hard money”) nine-month appointments. Effort is typically allocated 50% to research, 40% to teaching, and 10% to service. The standard teaching load is four classes per academic year, with options for reduced teaching loads and/or additional summer salary for faculty with extramural research funding. The Department seeks candidates conducting innovative research in any area of health economics, with preference for research interests in healthcare financing and health insurance, aging and long-term care, population health, or pharmaceutical economics and technology value assessment. Rank will be determined by the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. For senior-level appointments, experience mentoring doctoral students and junior faculty and obtaining extramural funding is especially desirable. The Department has 12 tenured and tenure-track faculty, five academic professional track faculty, and three professors of practice, and serves more than 120 graduate students. Its educational programs include a residential and executive Master of Health Administration, a PhD in Health Services Research, and a Master of Public Health concentration in Health Policy and Management. Faculty also teach in the School’s Bachelor of Science in Public Health program. Department faculty have varied disciplinary backgrounds and collaborate across research areas including health care access and delivery infrastructures, health care quality, chronic disease burden, maternal and child health, rural health, and data privacy. Alignment with one or more of the School of Public Health’s six research centers is desirable. The position is located in College Station, Texas, on Texas A&M University’s flagship campus.
