About The Position

Responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction. The instructor must remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. The instructor is also responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, academic advising, curriculum design, and other activities that contribute to the department, division, and College. The instructor performs all other duties as directed by the Division Dean, or the President or designee.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English or a master’s degree in any field plus fifteen (15) graduate level credits in English.
  • One year full-time, or equivalent part-time teaching experience at the college or high school level (experience with AP, Dual Enrollment, and/or English 12 Honors) in composition and/or business/technical writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Satisfactory completion of 30 semester hours or more of relevant academic study in an accredited doctoral program may, at the discretion of the Vice President, be determined to meet this requirement.
  • Experience implementing high-impact teaching practices.
  • Experience teaching developmental English, co-requisites, and/or ALP (Accelerated Learning Program).
  • Background in composition/rhetoric.
