About The Position
The Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University is seeking qualified instructors to fill part-time positions teaching English courses. East Tennessee State University is a state-assisted and Carnegie-classified Doctoral Research Intensive University with more than 15,000 students, located in the Appalachian Highlands of Northeast Tennessee. The Department of Literature and Language is a large, vibrant, and diverse department comprising English, World Languages, Film and Media Studies, Creative Writing, and other related disciplines. Successful candidates' primary duties will involve teaching English courses, primarily at the 1000- and 2000-level, which may be delivered in person and/or online. These are temporary, adjunct positions, filled on a semester-by-semester basis with some opportunity for renewal. Adjunct faculty positions do not include benefits.
Requirements
- Qualified to teach courses in English
- Experience teaching English courses in a post-secondary setting
- Master's degree in English or a closely-related field
- At least 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant field
- Equivalent combinations of education and directly related professional experience may also be considered
Responsibilities
- Teach English courses
- Primarily teach 1000- and 2000-level courses in person and/or online
