About The Position
Elmhurst University seeks part-time faculty to join the vibrant professional teaching and learning community in First-Year Writing during fall term 2026. All first-year writing courses meet in person in computer-assisted writing labs. Enrollment in first-year writing courses is generally capped at 18 students. This position is not eligible for remote work. The pay range is $3,800-$4,000 for a standard 1.0 credit (4 semester hour) course. New part-time faculty start at $3,800 (Adjunct Level 1).
Requirements
- M.A. in English or comparable degree.
- Experience teaching first-year composition or other introductory writing course.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student body and contributing positively to an inclusive campus community.
Nice To Haves
- Training or background in contemporary rhetoric and composition pedagogy.
- Experience teaching undergraduates.
Responsibilities
- Teaching 1 to 3 sections of Composition I and/or II, including in-person instruction and regular assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Course preparation including syllabus development, teaching, grading and being available to students who have questions or require extra help.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Elmhurst University.
- Performs other teaching-related duties as assigned.
