About The Position

The Facility Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a facility. The role requires compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, along with the organization's safety policies, and helps ensure systems function optimally to provide a safe and comfortable environment for building occupants. The Technician operates and maintains a broad range of facility systems and equipment, performs routine rounds and repairs, manages maintenance materials, and supports the upkeep of facility shop spaces, furniture, and fixtures. The position also involves using energy and building management systems to support operational efficiency and responding to after-hours emergencies as necessary. Requirements

Minimum of five years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field.
Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
Proficiency in general repair techniques and maintenance procedures.
EPA 608 Universal Certification is required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and perform physical labor related to maintenance and repair.
Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, and other systems powered by steam, air, diesel, gas, or water.
Conduct facility rounds to monitor and maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping, and plumbing systems.
Repair and replace components such as toilets, sinks, faucets, and dispensers.
Maintain and repair flooring, including tile and carpet squares.
Replace and repair lighting fixtures, including bulbs, ballasts, and drivers.
Perform water treatment for cooling towers, chilled water, and boiler water systems.
Maintain refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
Operate and maintain heating systems, including boilers and hot water pumps.
Facilitate maintenance and repair of natural gas distribution lines and related components.
Manage water supply systems, including filters, softeners, pumps, and sprinkler systems.
Operate and maintain electrical motors and control systems, troubleshooting as necessary.
Maintain fuel oil system components and safety-related equipment.
Use energy and building management systems for operational efficiency.
Maintain an inventory of parts and materials for maintenance tasks.
Keep facility shop spaces in good repair, including painting and drywall patching.
Repair furniture and fixtures as needed.
Engage with leaders, stakeholders, employees, customers, and clients as needed.
Respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.
