About The Position
Facilities Maintenance Technician I provides entry-level support for Del Norte Credit Union facilities by assisting with routine maintenance tasks, daily operational needs, and general facility upkeep. The role works under close supervision to help maintain safe, clean, and functional environments across all locations. The position is based in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and involves indoor and outdoor work, frequent movement between locations, and travel between sites by motor vehicle. It supports facility maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance, vendor coordination, interoffice deliveries, vehicle maintenance monitoring, office moves, and grounds upkeep.
Requirements
- One year of experience, preferably in maintenance, facilities, or a related field.
- High school diploma, GED, or higher education.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license to operate company vehicles and maintain a clean driving record for insurability.
- Courtesy, tact, trust, and diplomacy; ability to interact with others to provide or obtain information, build relationships, and solicit cooperation.
- Introductory skills in building maintenance, grounds maintenance, hand and power tools, safety standards, and troubleshooting.
- Physical ability to perform hands-on maintenance, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, and standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate small power tools, hand tools, other maintenance equipment, and a motor vehicle; travel between multiple work locations.
- Ability to climb ladders, access tight spaces, and work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine facility walkthroughs to identify safety, maintenance, and security issues, correcting them or reporting them to the appropriate party.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, changing light bulbs, painting, basic carpentry, and simple repairs.
- Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance and respond to assigned service requests.
- Coordinate vendor access and escort contractors performing major repairs or services.
- Transport interoffice mail, packages, and supplies between credit union locations.
- Assist in monitoring company vehicles and ensuring they receive required maintenance.
- Help with office moves, furniture assembly, and equipment setups.
- Perform light groundskeeping or exterior upkeep not covered by vendors.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
