Facilities Base Build Project Manager

About The Position

The Facilities Base Build Project Manager will be part of Wolfspeed’s Facilities Project Management group, primarily overseeing base build and infrastructure projects at the Durham campus. Depending on business needs, the role may also manage projects at other Wolfspeed sites. The position manages assigned CAPEX and OPEX projects from planning and pre-construction through construction and closeout, with project values ranging from small capital replacements to projects worth tens of millions of dollars. It reports to the Manager, Facilities Project Management Durham. The role requires collaboration with consultants, Wolfspeed employees, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders. The Project Manager plans, develops, establishes, and controls construction methods and procedures to improve facilities effectiveness, while supporting Wolfspeed’s brand, culture, and workplace environment. Project work includes pursuing environmental, health, and safety goals; overseeing multiple projects and annual maintenance shutdowns; contributing to site AOP/LRP development; and managing procurement, project controls, change orders, budgets, schedules, and stakeholder relationships. Projects are expected to be delivered on time and on budget, with effective communication and a sense of urgency.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in project management and/or the construction industry.
Ability to review and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Experience with MS Project.
Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
Strong communication skills and ability to operate with a sense of urgency.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience with Procore, SAP, or CxAlloy.
Project experience with high-end, high-visibility interior fit-ups.
Thorough knowledge of architectural design detailing and building material characteristics.
Broad understanding of industry standards and building codes.
Sincere desire to listen to and understand the client’s and stakeholders’ vision and key factors for project success.

Responsibilities

Manage assigned base build and infrastructure CAPEX and OPEX projects from cradle to grave, from pre-construction through project closeout.
Execute and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Manage yearly maintenance site shutdown activities.
Contribute to AOP/LRP development for the site.
Manage vendor and subcontractor procurement and selection, bidding, budgeting, and conflict resolution.
Develop and manage customer relationships.
Apply project controls, including information reporting, change order management, and process management.
Drive toward environmental, health, and safety goals of zero injuries and zero harm to the environment.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and manage construction projects to deliver on time and on budget.
Plan, develop, establish, and control construction methods and procedures to improve facilities effectiveness.
