About The Position

Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is hiring Zomi and/or Burmese language interpreters for in-person appointments in the Central Ohio area. Interpreters assist people during medical, social service, and other appointments. This is face-to-face interpretation only, not video or telephone interpretation.

Interpreters work as contractors and choose their own schedules, taking as many or as few available assignments as they wish. Assignments are available 24/7/365, though most are requested during business hours. The role is presented as a flexible way to earn money while using bilingual skills to help people who speak the language or dialect the interpreter speaks. Applicants without prior professional interpretation experience and applicants who speak English as a second language are welcome.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening.
• Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training through an accredited program.
• Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments.
• Use bilingual language skills to assist people who speak Zomi and/or Burmese.
