About The Position

We are looking for outgoing, motivated people to join our growing team in New York City. As a Face-to-Face Fundraiser / Canvasser, you will represent nonprofit organizations, discuss important causes, and inspire people to become monthly donors. This role involves being outdoors, walking, standing, and engaging in face-to-face conversations with the public, regardless of weather conditions. It is a goal-oriented position where performance is evaluated based on public engagement and successful donor sign-ups. We provide paid training, ongoing coaching, and support, but expect resilience and motivation from our team members.

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
  • Comfortable being outdoors, on your feet, and walking for most of your shift.
  • Able to communicate confidently in English.
  • Resilient, motivated by clear goals, open to feedback, and satisfied with improving results.
  • Social and comfortable starting conversations with strangers.
  • Motivated by goals and likes seeing improvement.
  • Able to stay positive and keep going after hearing 'no'.
  • Comfortable receiving regular feedback and coaching.
  • Enjoy getting people excited about taking action.
  • Reliable and able to commit to a consistent schedule.
  • Like being active and would rather be on your feet than behind a desk.
  • Care about nonprofit, humanitarian, environmental, animal welfare, human rights, or social justice causes.
  • Want to build communication, confidence, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Fundraising experience is not required.
  • Experience as a canvasser, community organizer, student, recent graduate, hospitality or customer service professional, salesperson, volunteer, performer, or someone looking to break into the nonprofit world.

Responsibilities

  • Represent nonprofit organizations in the community.
  • Talk with people about causes such as disaster relief, support for children and families, animal welfare, human rights, and social justice.
  • Learn about the issues your nonprofit partner is working on.
  • Share the organization's work with the public.
  • Inspire people to become monthly donors.
  • Engage the public and successfully sign up new donors.
  • Be outdoors, walking, standing, and talking to people face-to-face for most of the shift.
