About The Position

Roush is hiring Fabricators I (Metal) for prototype fabrication work, including automotive prototypes in a variety of areas. The role cuts materials to size and shape and welds metal using hand tools and equipment such as band saws, material brakes, and material shears. It provides welding support for garage shop services teams. Fabricators are mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. The positions are direct hire and based in Allen Park, Michigan; the posting also identifies Livonia, Michigan as the location for these positions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least six months of relevant fabrication experience.
Basic knowledge and ability to perform Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of safely operating and using a plasma cutter and oxy-fuel torch to cut material.
Own tools and a rolling toolbox.

Nice To Haves

Certificate in Welding Technology or a related field.
Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

Weld instrumentation, exhaust tubes, and bosses.
Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning with sanding disks and wire brushes to remove impurities such as scale, rust, grease, and moisture.
Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
Participate in daily shop organization and cleanup.
Cut materials to size and shape using hand tools and equipment such as band saws, material brakes, and material shears.
