Requirements

  • 3 or more years’ experience as a production, construction, or fabrication supervisor.
  • Fabrication experience preferred.
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse, and transportation management.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations including AOHS and Employment Standards Code.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong customer service orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Post secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Experience with rigging, fall arrest, forklifts, and scissor lifts are assets.
  • Training in and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing are desirable.
  • Experience in metal working or forming is an asset.
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of fabrication.
  • Ensuring that fabrication schedules are executed and completed on time and within budget.
  • Directing the fabrication workforce to achieve fabrication and production goals.
  • Setting and updating the production plan.
  • Monitoring of KPI performance indicators and development of action plans to improve trends.
  • Reading blueprints and programming machining equipment to produce required parts.
  • Reviewing and advising on drawing packages before and after the build.
  • Using metal working manipulation machinery (brake, shear, saw, punch. Etc.) and training new operators in machine operation, safety procedures, and company policy.
  • Ensuring equipment maintenance, repairs and change overs are being properly executed and Senior Production Manager notified of any malfunction.
  • Assisting with and complying with company inventory requirements.
  • Participating and enforcing safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Participating, when required, in hiring of new department employees.
  • Coordinating and scheduling the activities of workers in order to ensure smooth flow of productivity.
  • Identifying, investigating, correcting, and documenting potential environmental and safety problems.
  • Establishing methods to meet work schedules and coordinating work activities with other units.
  • Resolving work problems and recommending measures to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Ensuring production plan is being followed and production objectives are met.
  • Requisitioning materials and supplies, as required.
  • Preparing production and other reports.
  • May also coordinate and schedule the activities of trades workers, laborers or other workers.
  • Organizing department and keeping department clean, also cleaning department at the end of each workday.
  • Performing all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
  • Other duties as required.
