About The Position
Western Valley Meat is hiring team members for its Fabrication General Production Departments. This role performs a variety of tasks in the initial step of the meat processing facility, helping maintain the cleanliness and safety standards for products. Tasks may include skinning, trimming, sorting, hanging, and inspecting carcasses and edible offal products; loading products into machines; and packaging, boxing, labeling, and scaling products. The position uses knives, scissors, saws, scales, and other specialized manufacturing equipment. Work schedules begin between 5:45 a.m. and 6:15 a.m., depending on the specific job. The starting hourly wage is $17.50 during the 90-day probationary period. Pay increases based on the specific job awarded at hire, with the stated range of $19.35 to $24.50 per hour.
Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and twist while using hands and arms for simple gripping and grasping.
- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects.
- Ability to use knives and hooks.
- Ability to work in a cold environment, with average temperatures ranging from 40 to 49 degrees.
- Ability to follow general workplace safety procedures and policies while wearing required personal protective equipment.
