This role involves working as part of a cohesive management team, supporting each other's decisions and presenting a united front to staff. The Shift Manager acts as a role model to staff and junior managers, taking an active role in developing frequent diners by ensuring guest satisfaction and instilling this philosophy in employees. The position focuses on developing new ways to increase guest counts, ensuring effective recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, coaching, and counseling. The manager will work with the team to determine appropriate staffing levels, operating with an awareness of staffing trends, seasonal business changes, and other impacting factors. Key responsibilities include maximizing sales and optimizing profits through cost center management, staying abreast of the budget, and understanding budget variances. Maintaining high standards in security, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation is essential, as is maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the restaurant throughout each shift. The role requires positive communication about the restaurant, fostering an environment where people want to work, and operating collaboratively with other managers in terms of consistency, consensus, and flexibility. Other tasks as assigned will also be performed.
