About The Position

The Eye Surgeon restores and protects patients’ vision through precise surgery, sound clinical judgment, and trusted care. The surgeon performs full ophthalmic evaluations and selects procedures based on diagnosis, risk, and patient goals, including cataract, refractive, glaucoma, cornea, or oculoplastic procedures. The role works with ophthalmologists, optometrists, surgical nurses, and technicians in an equipped clinic and ophthalmic operating room, with diagnostic and surgical platforms, dedicated block time, and trained clinical support. The surgeon reports to the medical director and helps shape scheduling, technology, and protocols affecting their cases.

Requirements

  • Board certification or active board eligibility.
  • Active medical license and ability to obtain hospital and surgery-center privileges.

  • Clear communication with patients and staff, including informed consent and shared decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver surgical care that meets or exceeds accepted benchmarks for visual acuity, complication rates, and unplanned returns to the operating room.
  • Complete full ophthalmic evaluations and select appropriate procedures based on diagnosis, risk, and patient goals.
  • Apply consistent pre-operative assessment, surgical timeout, and post-operative protocols with the team to reduce preventable complications.
  • Identify high-risk cases early and manage them through documented recovery milestones and timely follow-up.
  • Ensure patients understand surgical options, risks, and expected results through informed consent and shared decision-making.
  • Work with optometry, anesthesia, and nursing to maintain operating-room utilization without compromising case quality or on-time starts.
  • Contribute outcomes data to support refinement of surgical technique, technology choices, and quality improvement.
  • Help shape scheduling, technology, and protocols that affect the surgeon’s cases.
