About The Position

Patients with limb-threatening ischemia, aortic disease, and complex venous disorders need a surgeon who decides quickly, operates precisely, and stays accountable after the incision closes. This role owns those outcomes—from first consult through recovery—so more people keep their limbs, avoid rupture, and return to independent life. Success is measured in safer procedures, shorter stays, and a service other clinicians trust when the case is hard.

Requirements

  • MD or DO, ACGME vascular surgery training (integrated or fellowship), and board certification or active eligibility in vascular surgery.
  • Unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility) and hospital privileges appropriate to open aortic, carotid, infrainguinal, and endovascular practice.
  • Demonstrated independent performance of both open reconstruction and endovascular intervention, including ruptured and acute limb ischemia.
  • Evidence of outcomes ownership: registry participation, complication review, or published/quality-improvement work tied to vascular results.
  • Ability to take call, communicate clearly with referring physicians, and lead a team under time pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run a high-acuity vascular practice that meets or exceeds institutional targets for elective and emergent case volume within the first year.
  • Deliver open and endovascular care for peripheral artery disease, aneurysmal disease, carotid disease, and dialysis access with complication and readmission rates at or better than peer benchmarks.
  • Lead multidisciplinary decisions with interventional radiology, cardiology, wound care, and anesthesia so urgent limb- and life-threatening cases move from consult to definitive treatment without avoidable delay.
  • Own longitudinal follow-up—surveillance imaging, reintervention thresholds, and secondary prevention—so graft and stent durability is tracked and acted on, not assumed.
  • Standardize pathways for CLI, ruptured aneurysm, and carotid disease that cut time-to-treatment and reduce unwarranted variation across the call team.
  • Teach residents, APPs, and referring clinicians through case review and bedside coaching that improves first-assist quality and appropriate referral.
  • Participate in quality review, registry reporting, and morbidity and mortality so every serious complication produces a concrete practice change.
