About The Position

The Durable Slate Company is an award-winning historic roofing contractor specializing in slate, copper, and clay-tile roofing. Established in 1986, the company is known nationwide for craftsmanship, safety, and preservation excellence. It is hiring experienced roofing technicians who take pride in their work and are willing to learn traditional historic-roofing methods. Paid apprenticeship training allows employees to learn at their own pace. The role involves installing, repairing, and restoring traditional roofing systems using slate, tile, copper, and related materials. Employees work at local and nationwide job sites, with paid travel time and logistical support. Compensation is $23–$40+ per hour based on skill and experience, with performance-based advancement opportunities and overtime available as weather allows.

Requirements

At least 1 year of roofing experience of any type.
Comfort working at heights using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of roofing installation and repair techniques and flashing details is preferred.
A valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points is preferred.

Responsibilities

Install, repair, and restore traditional slate, tile, and copper roofing systems.
Work with natural slate, clay tile, copper flashing, and related materials.
Maintain safe, professional job sites and follow company safety standards.
Travel to local and nationwide job sites; paid travel time and logistics support are provided.
