Experienced Engineer, Manufacturing Quality & Reliability (MQR)

Samsung Electronics•Austin, TX
•$95,000 - $120,000•Onsite

About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a technically driven quality engineer to join the Manufacturing Quality & Reliability (MQR) Operations Team full-time. The role manages fab-wide excursions and non-standard material disposition, requiring a strong understanding of semiconductor device integration and process flows. The engineer will translate technical failures into risk-based quality decisions and lead continuous improvements to processes, procedures, and quality systems for responding to quality incidents. The team works across the site with Fab Engineering, Defect Metrology, Process Integration, and Customer Engineering. The position is for the Austin and/or Taylor sites. The role leads responses to fab issues and excursions, coordinating root-cause identification and containment, wafer impact assessment, risk evaluation, data collection, disposition decisions, and customer communications. It analyzes process deviations across layers and modules for potential effects on device performance and reliability. The engineer maintains traceable, defensible technical documentation and quality records, collaborates across engineering, manufacturing, support groups, and executive teams to ensure quality-standard compliance, leads cross-functional projects, and facilitates structured root-cause problem-solving meetings. The position requires a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related science, along with semiconductor industry engineering experience. The required experience is four or more years for candidates with a bachelor’s degree, or two or more years for candidates with a master’s or PhD. The role is full-time and on-site. The stated base salary range is $95,000–$120,000, with a comprehensive benefits package and possible incentive compensation.

  • Hands-on problem-solving experience using the 8D methodology and quality tools.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor process integration, device fabrication flows, and the interdependency of unit processes in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency with structured problem-solving methods for complex semiconductor manufacturing issues.
