About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a technically driven quality engineer to join the Manufacturing Quality & Reliability (MQR) Operations Team full-time. The role manages fab-wide excursions and requires knowledge of semiconductor device integration and process flows to support appropriate disposition of non-standard material. The position is suited to an engineer with a strong technical foundation—preferably in Process Integration or Unit Process Engineering—who can translate complex technical failures into risk-based quality decisions and lead continuous improvement of incident-response processes, procedures, and quality systems. The MQR Operations Team works with departments across the site, including Fab Engineering, Defect Metrology, Process Integration, and Customer Engineering. The position is available at the Austin and/or Taylor sites. All positions at Samsung Austin Semiconductor are full-time and on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related science.
  • Relevant semiconductor-industry engineering experience: four or more years with a bachelor’s degree, or two or more years with a master’s or PhD.
  • Hands-on problem-solving experience using the 8D methodology and quality tools.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor process integration, device fabrication flows, and the interdependency of unit processes in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to drive quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in applying structured problem-solving methods to complex issues in semiconductor manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Process Integration (PIE) or Unit Process Engineering background.

Responsibilities

  • Lead responses to fab issues and excursions.
  • Coordinate cross-organizational efforts to identify and contain root causes, contain potentially impacted wafers, assess risk, define and execute data-collection plans, make disposition decisions, and coordinate customer communications.
  • Analyze the impact of process deviations across multiple layers and modules to determine potential risks to device performance and reliability.
  • Maintain technical documentation and quality records for excursions so disposition decisions are traceable, defensible, and compliant with internal and external quality standards.
  • Collaborate with fab engineering, systems, manufacturing, support groups, and executives to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.
  • Lead development and deployment of medium- to large-scale cross-functional projects with visibility to company executives.
  • Lead focused root-cause deep-dive meetings using Structured Problem Solving (SPS) tools with departments across the site.
  • Lead continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and quality systems related to quality-incident response.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance.
  • 401(k) matching with immediate vesting.
  • Onsite cafés and workout facilities.
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave.
  • Paid time off, two personal holidays, and ten regular holidays.
