Exercise Specialist / PT Aide - SS Lacey
About The Position
IRG Physical & Hand Therapy is seeking an Exercise Specialist to join their growing team. This role is ideal for individuals with an undergraduate degree looking to gain experience in a clinical setting before applying to PT/OT school or other medical programs. The Exercise Specialist is crucial in assisting patients with exercise plans and modalities, and plays a key role in establishing and maintaining patient relationships and driving the patient experience. The company offers global and regional collaboration opportunities for its exercise specialists across its 35+ locations.
Requirements
- High school diploma (Bachelors degree in related field preferred)
- Experience in a customer facing position
- Knowledge and ability to demonstrate body mechanics, functional movement, and exercises
- Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA laws and compliance regulations
- Ability to multitask without being overwhelmed
- Ability to build strong rapport with clients from a variety of backgrounds through strong communication and empathy
- Proficiency with technology and computer systems (EMR, Microsoft Office Suite, etc)
- Comfortable with cleaning and custodial duties
- Bending, reaching, squatting, lifting, pulling, pushing, getting up and down from a lying position on the floor, and prolonged periods of standing
- Lifting 35 lbs. from the floor to chest level
- Responsibility for own transportation to and from work site

Responsibilities
- Assisting patients with exercise plans and modalities
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with patients
- Driving the patient experience
- Cleaning and custodial duties to provide a safe environment for patients
- Demonstrating exercises including jumping, balancing on one leg, shoulder rotation, and using exercise bands
- Properly transferring patients with good body mechanics while maintaining patient safety
- Working for extended periods at a video display terminal and using a keyboard to enter and gather information
