Executive Producer, Audio

Condé Nast Germany•New York, NY
•$145,000 - $185,000

About The Position

WIRED is seeking an experienced senior audio executive to lead and grow its flagship podcast feed, Uncanny Valley, which includes a weekly panel show and a weekly interview program, Big Interview. The role calls for an accomplished audio journalist with deep talk-format experience, strong editorial judgment, adaptability, and a significant interest in politics, business, and technology. The Executive Producer will shape the shows’ formats, style, topics, guest bookings, and hosting talent, creating distinctive programming for WIRED’s global audience in collaboration with editorial teams. Reporting to the Executive Director of Features and Special Projects, the Executive Producer will work with WIRED’s Global Editorial Director, senior editors, and contributors on strategic planning for the podcast network. This includes strengthening existing shows and developing new series and specials. Because WIRED’s podcasts appear on YouTube and social platforms as well as audio apps, the role is responsible for how the programs look as well as how they sound, including creating compelling video episodes and clips. The position combines leadership with hands-on production in a small team. The Executive Producer will oversee both shows and actively produce at least one, manage budgets and contract producers and staff, direct recording sessions, oversee audio and video edits, and help expand WIRED’s audio programming over time.
