About The Position

WLOS/MY40TV is hiring an Executive Producer to oversee news content for fairness, balance, and accuracy. The role produces daily newscasts and oversees newscast production and special programming. The Executive Producer works closely with producers and reporters on daily story selection and coverage and is expected to lead by example as a newsroom leader.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience producing in a television news environment or equivalent.
• Ability to perform well under pressure, manage breaking news, and meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
• Strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics.
• Strong people skills, with an emphasis on coaching and motivating.
• Strong understanding of how to drive digital traffic.
• Strong writing skills and a proven track record of getting results on initiatives.

Nice To Haves

• A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred.
• Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily newscasts to ensure they serve local communities with relevant information that alerts, protects, and empowers audiences.
• Supervise producers and reporters, review scripts, and provide feedback to encourage powerful storytelling.
• Manage the newsroom and handle breaking news situations.
• Collaborate with News Directors and other station managers to create special segments.
• Plan and oversee continuity into upcoming newscasts.
