About The Position

Supervises and controls the labor and costs of the housekeeping department. Maintains clean guest/public areas at all times. Provides excellent guest service in an efficient, courteous, professional manner; following LBA standards of friendly hospitality while adhering to guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • Honesty and trustworthiness are essential.
  • Must pass appropriate security clearances.
  • One year of experience supervising at least 3 associates.
  • Three years’ housekeeping experience in lodging, housing, hotels, hospitals, or care facilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform major life activities: Standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
  • Must be able to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, crawl, and kneel.
  • Must be able to see and hear.
  • Must be able to communicate with other associates and/or guests.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of supervising and managing staff techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of materials, supplies, and equipment used in the housekeeping department.
  • Knowledge of the entire property, staff, services, hours of operations, type of rooms, locations, rates, and discounts.
  • Knowledge of safety and security measures. Report or correct any hazardous conditions observed immediately.
  • Ability to follow and manage using LBA procedures and policies.
  • Must be organized to maintain logs, bibles, checklists, and inventories as scheduled.
  • Basic computer skills/experience: pull reports, break out house, check house inventory.
  • Management skills: interview, train, coach, motivate, counsel, discipline, and termination process.
  • Payroll: ability to input payroll, store timecards, and maintain weekly reports.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain service-centric.
  • Effectively communicate with guests and co-workers via various methods to include: messages and communication log books.
  • Ability to assist guests with issues, being professional and maintaining a hospitable, caring attitude.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and department heads.
  • Must be able to learn/use computer systems necessary to perform daily tasks to include: Quore, Hotel Effectiveness, etc.
  • Must be able to exercise discretion to maintain guest privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Housekeeping Team through daily shift meetings and monthly department meetings, maintaining agendas and sign-in sheets.
  • Train new housekeeping associates, provide ongoing coaching, and document disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring for housekeeping and laundry departments.
  • Inspect all areas of the hotel (rooms, public space, back of the house, grounds) to ensure sanitation, brand standards, and health and safety requirements are met.
  • Maintain necessary items for the housekeeping and laundry departments, including guest loaned items, through monthly inventories, proper ordering, receiving, and maintaining supplies. Log and process all invoices for payment, including coding, filing, and inputting.
  • Ensure all equipment (vacuums, laundry equipment, carts, etc.) is in proper working order.
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests/associates by overseeing room key controls.
  • Present training resources, including brand and vendor training, to all housekeeping staff for continuous education.
  • Schedule and work within the designated labor model.
  • Ensure all staff follow existing policies to maintain guest privacy and implement new policies as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to ensure maintenance requests are initiated promptly and the property is maintained in a like-new condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that the associate is capable of performing.
