About The Position

The Executive Director, Organization Design is a senior leader within The Estée Lauder Companies’ Organizational Effectiveness Center of Excellence. This role leads enterprise-wide organization design and operating model engagements that translate business strategy into practical organizational solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced practitioner with deep expertise in operating model and organization structure design, governance, decision rights, and ways of working.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in operating model design, organization design, organizational effectiveness, human capital consulting, or a related field.
  • Experience guiding senior executives through significant operating model choices and tradeoffs in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business strategy into practical operating model decisions.
  • Experience leading the change management directly associated with operating model and organization redesigns.
  • Strong structured problem-solving, facilitation, organizational analytics, and executive communication skills.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, enterprise-wide organization design and operating model engagements, translating business strategy into clear design principles, requirements, and practical organizational solutions.
  • Assess organizational challenges using qualitative and quantitative evidence. Identify root causes across structure, governance, decision rights, accountabilities, processes, and ways of working.
  • Use workforce data, including spans, layers, cost, and management ratios, to inform design decisions. Partner with workforce planning and analytics specialists to address future workforce requirements.
  • Develop and compare design options, clearly explaining the benefits, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs of each.
  • Advise senior leaders on critical organizational decisions and facilitate discussions that build alignment and drive decisions.
  • Translate the selected direction into future-state organizational structures, governance, decision rights, interaction models, and ways of working.
  • Lead change management for organization and operating model redesigns, including stakeholder alignment, impact assessment, and adoption planning.
  • Build ELC’s organization design and operating model methodologies, tools, standards, and playbooks ensuring they are practical and easy to use for People Partners.
