About The Position

The Director of Organizational Development is responsible for advancing organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, employee engagement, and culture across Discovery Place, Inc. This role partners closely with senior leaders to assess organizational needs, design and implement talent and organizational development strategies, lead change management initiatives, and foster a high-performing workplace culture aligned with the mission and strategic priorities of Discovery Place. The Director oversees leadership development, learning and development programs, organizational assessments, and workforce development efforts while utilizing data and best practices to drive continuous improvement and organizational success.

Requirements

An understanding of adult learning concepts
Strong presentation skills and the ability to facilitate training programs to employees at all levels.
Adept with a variety of training platforms and methods
Ability to develop, evaluate and research training options that are compatible with the needs of the organization.
Must have demonstrated experience in leadership development, coaching, and career development strategies.
Experience facilitating organizational change and transformation initiatives.
Ability to influence and build credibility with leaders at all levels of the organization.
Experience utilizing employee engagement, workforce, or organizational effectiveness data to support business decisions.
Demonstrated experience developing leadership competency frameworks, succession planning programs, employee engagement strategies, and performance management initiatives.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in organizational development, talent development, change management, organizational effectiveness, or a related leadership function within a complex organization.
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices related to organizational development.
Proven history of leading successful organizational development and transformation initiatives.
Proficient in using relevant software and technology platforms.
Experience designing and implementing effective training and development programs.
Experience collaborating with diverse employees.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Team, PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
Understanding of website management
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a heavy daily task volume
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift to fifty pounds.
Must have a valid driver license and the ability to drive to multiple locations throughout North Carolina.

Nice To Haves

Certification in relevant organization development programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead efforts to strengthen organizational culture through programs, initiatives, and leadership practices that reinforce Discovery Place's mission, values, operational standards, collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Partner with leaders to evaluate organizational structure, workforce capabilities, succession needs, team effectiveness, and organizational readiness in support of business objectives.
Lead organizational change management initiatives, including communication planning, leadership coaching, and organizational readiness activities that support successful implementation of strategic priorities.
Conduct organizational assessments and diagnose organizational issues to identify areas for improvement.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders by providing coaching and consultation on organizational effectiveness, leadership development, team performance, and culture.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in organizational development and apply innovative ideas and solutions to strengthen Discovery Place's organizational culture and effectiveness.
Develop and maintain leadership competency models and behavioral expectations that reinforce organizational culture and support employee development and performance.
Partner with the Director of Talent Management to evaluate and enhance Discovery Place's performance management philosophy, processes, and tools to align leadership expectations, organizational values, culture, and business objectives.
Build continuous learning and career development programs that give employees the tools and support needed to grow and identify career paths to enhance retention.
Develop succession planning processes that identify critical roles, assess organizational talent pipelines, and support leadership continuity across the organization.
Oversee Discovery Place University and other learning and development programs, including leadership development, change-readiness initiatives that align with organizational priorities, employee development needs, and measurable business outcomes.
Lead the organization's employee engagement strategy, focusing on surveys, employee feedback processes, analysis, and action planning that strengthen culture and organizational effectiveness.
Analyze organizational health, engagement, leadership skills, learning, and workforce metrics to identify opportunities for improvements that support decision-making.
Develop organizational development strategies and multi-year plans focused on leadership development, succession planning, employee engagement, workforce readiness, and organizational effectiveness.
Partner with leaders across the organization to foster an inclusive workplace culture that promotes engagement, belonging, respect, collaboration, and equitable opportunities for growth and development.
