About The Position

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director of Foundation, Marketing & Public Relations serves as the organization's executive leader for strategic marketing, communications, public relations, philanthropy, patient experience, and community engagement. This executive is responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputation of Cass Regional Medical Center while advancing philanthropic initiatives that support the organization's mission. The position provides leadership for Marketing, Public Relations, Foundation operations, Patient Satisfaction initiatives, the Patient Advisory Council, community outreach, and volunteer engagement while working collaboratively with executive leadership, physicians, staff, the Foundation Board of Directors, community partners, and the organization's contracted marketing agencies. The Executive Director develops and executes comprehensive marketing strategies that support organizational growth, strengthens the Cass Regional Medical Center brand, oversees fundraising initiatives, cultivates donor relationships, leads community engagement efforts, and ensures consistent, transparent communication with patients, employees, physicians, media partners, and the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Five or more years of progressive executive leadership experience in healthcare, nonprofit, marketing, communications, philanthropy, or a related field
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor development, or nonprofit leadership
  • Experience leading marketing, branding, or public relations initiatives
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong financial management and strategic planning experience

  • Provides executive leadership for all marketing and communications functions including: Development and implementation of the organization's annual marketing strategy, Management of the annual marketing budget, Oversight of advertising and media expenditures, Development of measurable marketing initiatives aligned with organizational priorities, Brand strategy and reputation management, Recruitment marketing initiatives, Service line marketing, Digital marketing strategy, Community engagement, Internal communications, Executive communications, Crisis communications, Public Information Officer responsibilities during emergency situations.
  • Strengthen the Cass Regional Medical Center brand, Support strategic organizational growth, Educate the communities we serve, Promote exceptional patient care, Strengthen physician and employee recruitment, Increase awareness of services and programs, Support Foundation fundraising initiatives, Tell Cass Regional Medical Center's story.
  • Annual marketing plan development, Campaign strategy, Digital advertising, Print advertising, Radio, Streaming media, Billboards, Google Ads, Social Media advertising, Website strategy, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Marketing analytics, Return on Investment (ROI) measurement.
  • Serves as the executive liaison for contracted marketing partners, Provides oversight of: Website hosting, Website CMS, Wellness Matters content, Website enhancements, Digital user experience, Promotional Vendors.
  • Serves as the organization's chief Public Relations executive responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputation of Cass Regional Medical Center. Responsibilities include: Media relations, Press releases, News stories, Community announcements, Executive communications, Internal communications, Physician communications, Board communications, Foundation communications, Community partnerships, Crisis communication planning.
  • Maintains relationships with local and regional media including: Tribune & Times, North Cass Herald, Steel City Media, Regional television and healthcare publications.
  • Provides executive oversight of the Cass Regional Medical Center brand by ensuring: Consistent messaging, Brand standards, Visual identity, Organizational storytelling, Patient success stories, Physician spotlights, Employee recognition, Community impact stories, Photography, Video production, Publications, Newsletters, Promotional materials.
  • Leads the organization's digital communication strategy through: Content development, Patient stories, Employee recognition, Physician highlights, Foundation event promotion, Service line marketing, Community education, Social media analytics, Audience engagement, Digital reputation management.
  • Provides executive oversight of initiatives designed to improve the patient experience throughout the organization including: Patient satisfaction initiatives, Patient experience improvement strategies, Patient feedback analysis, Collaboration with operational leaders to improve patient experience scores, Patient communication initiatives, Recognition of exceptional patient care experiences.
  • Works collaboratively with clinical leadership to identify opportunities that enhance the patient experience while supporting organizational quality goals.
  • Provides executive leadership and administrative oversight for the Patient Advisory Council by: Coordinating council meetings, Recruiting community members, Facilitating patient feedback, Presenting recommendations to executive leadership, Integrating patient perspectives into organizational initiatives, Supporting patient-centered care initiatives.
  • Serves as the organization's Public Information Officer during emergency events. Responsibilities include: Coordinating communication with the CEO and Incident Command, Preparing media statements, Managing media inquiries, Monitoring social media, Internal employee communications, Public messaging, Reputation management.
  • Ensures communication is timely, accurate, transparent, and compliant with patient privacy regulations.
  • Foundation strategic planning, Annual fundraising, Major gifts, Planned giving, Capital campaigns, Grants, Scholarship programs, Employee Assistance Fund, Patient Assistance Fund, Memorial & Healing Gardens, Floyd and Franceline Parris Community Trail.
  • Foundation financial management, Form 990 oversight, Foundation Board governance, Board committees, Special events, Donor stewardship.
  • Auxiliary revitalization.
  • Serves as the executive leader for community engagement by developing and strengthening relationships that enhance Cass Regional Medical Center's visibility, reputation, and mission throughout the region.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive community relations strategy aligned with the organization's strategic plan.
  • Represent Cass Regional Medical Center at civic, business, healthcare, educational, and community organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local government officials, elected leaders, school districts, colleges, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and community partners.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships that improve community health and expand organizational awareness.
  • Coordinate hospital participation in community events, health fairs, educational seminars, sponsorships, and outreach initiatives.
  • Foster relationships with local businesses, foundations, service organizations, and corporate partners to support hospital initiatives and Foundation fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to promote community education programs focused on prevention, wellness, and population health.
  • Strengthen relationships with physicians, medical staff, volunteers, donors, patients, and community advocates to enhance community trust and engagement.
  • Promote the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities through meaningful community involvement.
  • Identify emerging community needs and communicate opportunities to executive leadership.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Cass Regional Medical Center while strengthening the organization's reputation throughout the region.

Benefits

  • Starting salary of $116,000 with the opportunity for a higher starting salary based on relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated success up to $170,000.
  • Position is bonus eligible.
