About The Position

Under the supervision of the Chief Academic Officer, the Executive Director, Elementary Schools provides leadership, supervision, coaching, and support to elementary principals and campus leadership teams. The Executive Director is responsible for strengthening instructional leadership, improving student achievement and outcomes, supporting consistent implementation of district priorities, and ensuring that elementary campuses operate in alignment with district goals, policies, and applicable state and federal requirements. The Executive Director serves as a key member of the district academic leadership team and works collaboratively with principals, district administrators and departments, teachers, and support staff to ensure a coherent, high-quality Pre-Kindergarten–5 instructional program. The position provides direct support and accountability for campus improvement, instructional quality, leadership development, data-informed decision-making, and implementation of district initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, or a related field
  • Valid Texas Principal or Mid-Management certification
  • Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Minimum of three years of successful elementary campus principal experience.
  • Successful experience leading instructional improvement, campus improvement, professional learning, and/or curriculum implementation.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Texas Superintendent certification preferred
  • Certified T-TESS and T-PESS appraiser preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective elementary instructional practices, curriculum, assessment, and school improvement.
  • Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), state accountability requirements, and current instructional practices.
  • Strong knowledge of effective campus leadership, organizational systems, and school improvement processes.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, coaching, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret academic, demographic, operational, and student performance data.
  • Ability to provide effective feedback, develop leadership capacity, and hold campus leaders accountable for results.
  • Ability to interpret and implement federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, Board members, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Experience supervising and evaluating professional staff preferred.
  • Experience working in a school district with multiple campuses and/or a diverse student population preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, support, and accountability to assigned elementary principals.
  • Develop the instructional and leadership capacity of principals and campus leadership teams by establishing regular structures for principal supervision, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Monitor campus leadership practices and provide timely, evidence-based feedback related to instructional leadership, student achievement, culture, operations, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support principals in establishing clear campus priorities and systems that protect instructional time and maximize student learning.
  • Support the development of leadership pipelines and provide opportunities for aspiring and developing administrators to strengthen their leadership skills.
  • Support principals in the effective implementation of T-TESS, T-PESS, and other district evaluation and feedback systems, as applicable.
  • Maintain regular communication with campus leaders regarding district initiatives, expectations, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the district's Pre-Kindergarten–5 instructional program that reflects a coherent, standards-aligned elementary curriculum in collaboration with curriculum and instructional support departments.
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of instructional programs, materials, resources, and practices across elementary campuses.
  • Support principals and campus teams in implementing evidence-based instructional practices and interventions.
  • Promote high expectations for all students and support equitable access to rigorous, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Monitor the implementation of district instructional initiatives and provide support and accountability to ensure consistency across campuses.
  • Support principals in establishing measurable campus goals and action plans aligned with district priorities and Board goals.
  • Assist campuses in developing and monitoring Campus Improvement Plans and related improvement strategies.
  • Monitor progress toward campus and district academic goals and provide regular updates to the Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent.
  • Support campuses in preparing for and responding to state accountability requirements, monitoring systems, and improvement processes.
  • Coordinate with departments and personnel responsible for curriculum, assessment, special education, federal programs, multilingual education, student services, technology, transportation, safety, and other district functions to ensure coordinated support for elementary campuses.
  • Promote consistency of purpose and practice across elementary campuses while recognizing individual campus needs and contexts.
  • Assist in evaluating programs and recommending changes that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and student outcomes.
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, data analyses, and recommendations for district leadership and the Board of Trustees, as assigned.
  • Represent the district at community meetings, professional organizations, workshops, conferences, and other events relevant to elementary education and leadership.
  • Build positive and productive relationships with families, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to questions, concerns, and requests from campus personnel, parents, and community members in a timely and professional manner.
  • Attend Board of Trustees meetings and other district meetings as assigned.
  • Assist in the development, management, and monitoring of budgets associated with assigned programs and initiatives.
  • Support campuses in ensuring compliance with applicable district policies, state and federal requirements, and program guidelines.
  • Interpret, apply, and explain district policies, administrative regulations, laws, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with district-level administrators and departments to achieve the goals and objectives of the district's instructional plan and Board of Trustees priorities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of research, emerging trends, legislation, accountability requirements, and best practices related to elementary education and school leadership.
  • Participate in district committees and councils as assigned.
  • Assume other roles and responsibilities related to elementary education, campus leadership, and district initiatives as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer or Superintendent.
