About The Position

We have two Team Lead openings — one in Property Claims and one in General Liability. The shared responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations are outlined below. Opening 1 – Ryze Property Claims Team Lead Opening 2 - Certus General Liability Claims Team Lead Both Team Lead openings are working lead roles — you carry an active claim portfolio while providing day-to-day guidance, oversight, and mentorship to the team around you. You are the first point of escalation for complex coverage and claim handling questions, and a direct extension of Claims Manager and Director-level leadership. The right person for either role is a seasoned adjuster who is ready to take on real leadership responsibility without stepping away from the work. Requirements

  • Active adjuster license in applicable states.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including policy interpretation.
  • Sound decision-making and ability to work independently.
  • Analytical and proactive approach to claim handling.
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or informally leading other adjusters.
  • 7+ years of property claim handling experience, with demonstrated senior-level performance.
  • Xactimate proficiency required.
  • Prior experience as a Desk Adjuster II or equivalent senior individual contributor role.
  • 5 to 7 years of General Liability claims handling experience, including Bodily Injury and Property Damage.
  • 1 to 2 years of team management or leadership experience.
  • Experience with both litigated and non-litigated claims.
  • Mediation and settlement negotiation experience.
  • Experience collaborating with defense counsel on litigated matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior formal lead, senior, or supervisory experience in a claims environment.
  • Previous TPA experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-carrier environments and varying client guidelines.
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an active portfolio of claims from report to resolution, consistent with client guidelines and company direction.
  • Examine policies and records to determine coverage and document positions clearly.
  • Conduct thorough investigations per claim handling guidelines and best practices.
  • Estimate costs, prepare reports of findings, and negotiate settlements.
  • Respond to all communications — emails, voicemails, client forms — within required timeframes.
  • Assist with escalations and reassignments across the team as directed.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for team members on complex coverage, liability, and negotiation questions.
  • Review team work product for quality, accuracy, and consistency with client and company standards.
  • Provide day-to-day mentorship and coaching to adjusters on your team.
  • Identify skill gaps and partner with management and training to address them.
  • Support onboarding of new team members through file reviews and real-time guidance.
  • Monitor workloads and flag capacity or quality concerns to management proactively.
  • Model the standards of professionalism, production, and client service expected across the team.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to management on team performance, file status, and emerging issues.
  • Assist management with client reporting and communication as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement at the process and procedure level.
  • Manages a portfolio of daily property claims while leading a team of Desk Adjusters.
  • Manages a portfolio of third-party Bodily Injury and Property Damage claims — litigated and non-litigated — while leading a team of GL Claims Examiners.
  • Direct coordination with defense counsel on complex and litigated matters.
  • Mediation attendance and settlement authority on high-exposure files.
  • Carrier compliance and reporting cadence responsibilities.
