About The Position

The Custodian at Grow Academy is responsible to schedule, coordinate and perform routine and ongoing custodial maintenance of the Academy and immediately surrounding property. In this capacity, he/she will use and maintain power equipment and hand tools, buffers, vacuums, brooms, mops, squeegees and a variety of materials, for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, windows, bathrooms, kitchens, carpets, furniture and exterior walkways.

Requirements

Ability to work well on a variety of tasks under general supervision
Knowledge of basic cleaning and housekeeping methods and processes
Ability to follow instructions on the use of chemicals and supplies
Strong oral communication skills
Regularly required to communicate with others, including verbally and in writing, to exchange accurate information and perform job-related tasks.
Constantly required to remain in a stationary standing position, move about the work environment, and use hands and arms to handle, reach, and operate cleaning equipment.
Constantly required to push, move, lift or otherwise carry up to 10 pounds and may occasionally be required to push, move, lift or otherwise carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to observe and perceive information, including close, distance, and peripheral vision, necessary to perform job duties such as operating equipment.
Ability to perceive and respond to auditory information in the work environment as necessary to perform the essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

bilingual ability preferred
Custodial/maintenance experience in a commercial/school setting a plus

Responsibilities

Clean and mop assigned areas daily
Clean, mop and stock restrooms as needed
Dust horizontal surfaces 2-3 times per week
Empty all outdoor trash containers daily
Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings and events
Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed
Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure buildings when facilities are not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows; turn off lights
Keep grounds free from trash and litter
Report needed repairs to supervisor
Know and follow all safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job
Other related duties as assigned
