The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is an emergency response entity, maintaining the all-hazards emergency management program for the State of Texas through specializing in Preparedness, Response, Recovery, and Mitigation activities. TDEM advises and works closely with cities, counties, and state agencies during planning and implementing their own emergency management programs to ensure Texas communities are more resilient for future emergencies and disasters. The Executive Assistant I provides complex administrative support to high level administrators in an executive or senior leadership role, coordinating high-level administrative operations for the assigned region. This position has moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. It requires availability for after-hours and weekend work, and the ability to operate outside of regular working hours during activations in the field, DDEOC, or State Operations Center. The incumbent must be able to deploy from their assigned duty station for extended periods in the aftermath of a disaster without relief or with minimal rest. This is an on-site position, not subject to telecommuting, with a fixed salary rate.
