Execution Planning Engineer

Danos, LLC•Spring, TX

About The Position

The Execution Planning Engineer supports early project development for greenfield and brownfield upstream unconventional facilities and infrastructure. The role verifies existing brownfield facility conditions, evaluates facility reuse options, and develops practical execution plans before projects transition to a Project Engineer for execution. The engineer works closely with Project Development, Operations, Construction, Project Execution, and technical stakeholders to identify tie-ins, constructability risks, permitting needs, personnel and process safety considerations, and execution constraints. The position develops and reviews process design specifications and studies, provides technical oversight of engineering contractor work, participates in hazard and operability reviews, and assists with commissioning and start-up as required. It also develops field-based planning documentation and supports gate reviews, design and execution plans, change documentation, and readiness deliverables. The role contributes to collaborative team effectiveness and process improvements that reduce rework and strengthen project handoffs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical studies.
  • Prior experience in Project Execution and Planning activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with upstream unconventional facilities, brownfield verification, P&IDs, plot plans, routing, tie-ins, or field execution planning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and lead junior engineers in developing process design specifications, including heat and material balances, design flow plans, process equipment design, preliminary hydraulic balances, utility balances, basic process control and instrumentation, materials selection, and safety facilities.
  • Lead or perform process optimization studies to evaluate capital or operating cost savings, process configuration alternatives, and safety facility requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight of engineering contractors’ front-end engineering and design and detailed engineering work to ensure alignment with company methods and guidelines, project specifications, and owner requirements.
  • Participate in Hazard & Operability Reviews for new or modified facilities and in support of existing plant facilities.
  • Provide commissioning and start-up assistance for new or modified facilities as required.
  • Establish organization and staffing process.
  • Support the Project Development Engineer by verifying existing brownfield facility conditions, constraints, capacities, and reuse opportunities.
  • Engage Operations to identify facility considerations, operability concerns, maintainability needs, and limitations associated with using existing facilities for new production.
  • Document brownfield verification findings, including impacted systems, tie-in feasibility, facility boundaries, shutdown requirements, and constraints.
  • Develop initial execution plans for well pads, tank batteries, facilities, flowlines, tie-ins, and related infrastructure.
  • Develop detailed pipeline routes and engage Construction to identify constructability concerns, routing risks, access needs, and execution constraints.
  • Identify execution risks, demolition needs, shutdown requirements, sequencing considerations, and field conditions that may affect scope, schedule, cost, or safety.
  • Develop redline P&IDs, plot plans, preliminary routing layouts, tie-in point identification, and field-based planning documentation for brownfield scope.
  • Verify that project concepts align with existing facility conditions, applicable standards, and execution assumptions.
  • Perform early process safety risk screenings to identify potential hazards, design considerations, operating impacts, and risk management needs.
  • Support Gate Review inputs, Design and Execution Plan development, change documentation, and execution readiness deliverables.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture based on clarity, ownership, constructive challenge, and trusted partnership.
  • Contribute to process improvements that reduce rework, improve handoffs, and strengthen execution readiness.
  • Coordinate across Project Development, Global Operations, Construction, Project Engineering, Central Engineering, Surface Land and Regulatory, Project Controls, and Procurement or Supply Chain on planning, technical, permitting, cost, schedule, equipment, and readiness matters.
