Execution Planning Engineer

Danos•Spring, TX

About The Position

The Execution Planning Engineer supports early project development for greenfield and brownfield upstream unconventional facilities and infrastructure. The role validates brownfield facility conditions, evaluates reuse options, and develops practical execution plans before projects transition to a Project Engineer for execution. The position works closely with Project Development Engineering, Operations, Construction, Project Execution, and other technical stakeholders to identify tie-ins, constructability risks, permitting needs, personnel and process safety considerations, and execution constraints. The engineer provides technical support and oversight across process design, optimization, front-end engineering and design, detailed engineering, hazard and operability reviews, and commissioning and start-up as required. The role also contributes to brownfield verification, facility reuse assessments, execution planning, field documentation, safety and permitting readiness, and continuous improvement. Success involves identifying constraints and risks early, delivering reliable planning documentation, engaging Operations and Construction, and enabling a clear handoff to Project Execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical studies is required.
  • Prior experience in Project Execution and Planning activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with upstream unconventional facilities, brownfield verification, P&IDs, plot plans, routing, tie-ins, or field execution planning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Development Engineer by verifying brownfield facility conditions, constraints, capacities, and reuse opportunities.
  • Engage Operations to identify facility considerations, operability concerns, maintainability needs, and limitations related to using existing facilities for new production.
  • Document brownfield verification findings, including impacted systems, tie-in feasibility, facility boundaries, shutdown requirements, and constraints.
  • Develop initial execution plans for well pads, tank batteries, facilities, flowlines, tie-ins, and related infrastructure.
  • Develop detailed pipeline routes and work with Construction to identify constructability concerns, routing risks, access needs, and execution constraints.
  • Identify execution risks, demolition needs, shutdown requirements, sequencing considerations, and field conditions that could affect scope, schedule, cost, or safety.
  • Develop redline P&IDs, plot plans, preliminary routing layouts, tie-in point identification, and field-based planning documentation for brownfield scope.
  • Verify that project concepts align with existing facility conditions, applicable standards, and execution assumptions.
  • Perform early process safety risk screenings to identify hazards, design considerations, operating impacts, and risk management needs.
  • Support Gate Review inputs, Design and Execution Plan development, change documentation, and execution readiness deliverables.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture based on clarity, ownership, constructive challenge, and trusted partnership.
  • Contribute to process improvements that reduce rework, improve handoffs, and strengthen execution readiness.
  • Lead or monitor junior engineers in developing process design specifications, including heat and material balances, design flow plans, process equipment design, preliminary hydraulic balances, utility balances, basic process control and instrumentation, materials selection, and safety facilities.
  • Lead or perform process optimization studies to evaluate capital and operating cost savings, process configuration alternatives, and safety facilities requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight of engineering contractor work during front-end engineering and design and detailed engineering to ensure consistency with company methods and guidelines, project specifications, and owner requirements.
  • Participate in Hazard and Operability Reviews for new or modified facilities and in support of existing plant facilities.
  • Provide commissioning and start-up assistance for new or modified facilities, as required.
  • Establish organization and staffing process.
