About The Position

The purpose of this position is to assist GCU Public Safety by patrolling the facility or campus grounds used in campus events. This role provides enthusiastic, first-class customer service to all guests, monitors and authorizes access to facilities and events, and enforces venue rules and regulations. The Event Worker also assists with special details like placing barricades and directing traffic, ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, employees, guests, visitors, event attendees, and the public, and ensuring compliance with University policies and Public Safety policy. This role also involves ensuring security equipment is suitable and in excellent working condition, assisting with the usage of metal detectors and hand wands, and maintaining effective radio communication.

Requirements

  • Professional appearance and demeanor with ability to interact positively with staff, guests, visitors, and members of the public.
  • Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays depending on scheduled events.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides enthusiastic, first-class customer service to all guests.
  • Monitors and authorizes access to facilities and events for guests, stage personnel, event(s) staff, employees, which always enforces the venue’s rules and regulations.
  • Assist with special details, such as placing barricades and direct traffic.
  • Ensures safety and security of students, faculty, employees, guests, visitors, event attendees and/or members of the public.
  • Ensures compliance with University policies, and Public Safety policy.
  • Ensuring security equipment are suitable and remain in excellent working conditions throughout all events
