About The Position

Groovin' Gourmets, the catering division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, provides chef-crafted catering and service for corporate functions, weddings, and social events across the greater Richmond and Hampton Roads regions. The company emphasizes quality, customer service, and a supportive, positive workplace. This is a flexible, part-time seasonal catering position at offsite venues across the Greater Richmond area, with most events taking place in the evenings and on weekends. Event Staff may work as an Event Server, Event Bartender, or Event Captain. Staff are invited to events and may accept or decline based on their schedules. Pay is $16–$24 per hour depending on position, plus gratuities.

Responsibilities

Assist with event setup and breakdown, including lifting or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
Serve guests attentively and ensure they have what they need.
Become familiar with the catering menu and answer guests’ questions about food being served.
Maintain a courteous and well-mannered demeanor throughout events.
Review event worksheets and understand event details, timelines, bar type, and food before arriving.
Unload vehicles and set up the bar area and appropriate glassware.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, answer questions about ingredients, and suggest beverages and cocktails.
Verify that guests served alcohol are of legal drinking age.
Clean up the bar area, pack beer and wine into appropriate boxes, and assist with general event breakdown.
Safely transport food, drinks, and equipment to event venues.
Manage event setup, meal and beverage service, and take-down.
Carry out the Sales Event Coordinator’s event plan and adapt service setup and flow to different venues.
Lead co-captains, servers, and bartenders.
Communicate with the event host.
Address issues proactively and resourcefully, and support and develop team members.
