About The Position

The Classic Center is hiring part-time Event Setup Staff for its Convention Center Operations team at The Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. The role typically averages 15–32 hours per week, with shifts varying throughout the week, including weekends and holidays. Full-time opportunities may be available. Staff help transform the facility for events, including conferences and community celebrations, and support preparations, event-day needs, and post-event teardown.

Requirements

• A team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Flexible availability, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when needed.
• Reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to lift 25–50 pounds, walk extensively, and bend, squat, or kneel during shifts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license and a valid state driver’s license.
• Must successfully pass a drug screening and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience in a similar role, such as at an arena, convention center, stadium, or theater; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside other event staff to set up and convert the campus for events.
• Build event layouts based on diagrams and manager instructions, including tables, chairs, stages, and trade shows.
• Prioritize safety by following training and best practices.
• Assist with event preparations, day-of-event needs, and post-event teardown.
• Keep storage areas clean, organized, and efficient.
• Store tools and equipment properly after use and assist with annual inventory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
