About The Position

The Evening Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of all hotel public areas, including lobbies, restrooms, and corridors. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a welcoming and sanitary environment for guests and employees. The position requires physical stamina and attention to detail to uphold the hotel's standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in housekeeping preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, stoop or reach with your body and arms repeatedly without difficulty.
  • Ability to stand for long hours and walk long distances without fatigue.
  • Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels.
  • Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working.
  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Check daily assignments and complete all assigned cleaning duties in designated areas.
  • Gather all cleaning supplies and return them daily.
  • Report any engineering problems or repairs to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
  • Return any borrowed items (e.g., irons, boards, hairdryers) to the Housekeeping department when removed from guestrooms.
  • Vacuum floors in public areas.
  • Service and re-stock housekeeping closets.
  • Remove gum, wall spots, and floor spots with appropriate chemicals.
  • Wipe glass, pictures, windows, and public telephone areas.
  • Clean public restrooms and replace products.
  • Complete closet inventory.
  • Sign keys in and out.
  • Empty Housekeeping carts of dirty linen, trash, etc.
  • Assist in floor care.
  • Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring their attention.
  • Gain knowledge of all hotel facilities to answer questions from guests.
  • Assist Room Attendants throughout the day with housecleaning rooms when needed.
  • Assist Room Attendants by stripping any vacant and dirty rooms when necessary.
  • Assist in Laundry.
  • Participate in department and hotel meetings as requested.
