Escrow Officer

HomeLight•Houston, TX

About The Position

HomeLight is seeking an Escrow Officer to manage residential resale and purchase transactions from contract review through closing. The role serves as the human link between HomeLight’s process and clients, working with agents, buyers, sellers, lenders, and other parties to keep transactions moving and ensure they close accurately and on time. This is a resale/purchase business with no refinance work, and the role does not require business development. The Escrow Officer reviews contracts and instructions, verifies that paperwork is complete, confirms title and transaction requirements, coordinates funding, and ensures that funds and property are transferred only after all terms have been met. The position also involves managing multiple contracts under deadline pressure, building relationships with industry partners, providing attentive service to agents and clients, and training and guiding escrow assistants. As HomeLight expands joint venture partnerships across Texas, the role will oversee escrow operations across multiple entities while supporting service quality and operational excellence.

  • Notary public status and an escrow officer license as required by state regulations.
  • Technical knowledge of the closing process.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to keep transaction parties informed and resolve issues.
  • Ability to adapt to new workflows and procedures.
  • Ability to manage many contracts and parties simultaneously while working under deadline pressure.

  • Work with lenders and underwriters to ensure transactions are funded and completed.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with agents, attorneys, lenders, surveyors, and government agencies.

  • Be present at closings and help make the experience positive for agents and buyers.
  • Train escrow assistants, delegate and audit work, answer questions, and provide direction.
  • Oversee escrow operations across multiple entities as HomeLight expands its joint venture partnerships across Texas.
