About The Position

First American's Direct division provides title insurance protection and settlement services for real estate purchases, refinances, and equity loans. The Escrow Officer handles real estate transactions by establishing new escrow accounts, managing funds, processing closing documents, and completing settlements in accordance with established policies and procedures. The role works in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-service-focused setting and helps facilitate homeownership.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of escrow-related experience.
• Experience directly handling escrow transactions.
• Openness to new technology and proprietary programs, with the ability to adjust to new workflows.
• Passion for helping customers while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal teams and external customers; comfortable using different communication methods to meet customer needs.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to navigate internal and external resources to resolve issues.
• Ability to contribute to a team and deliver beyond customer expectations.
• Comfortable guiding and supporting future talent learning the business.
• Knowledge of the MS Office suite and ability to adapt quickly to new software applications and technologies.
• Valid licensing or certification as required by the applicable state.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Complete real estate escrow transactions by determining requirements.
• Act as a neutral liaison between transaction parties, follow company policy, and monitor and mitigate company risk.
• Ensure funds are properly accounted for and disbursed according to contract terms and company policy.
• Prepare regular escrow account status reports for parties involved in the transaction.
• Examine property titles, mortgages, and trust deed documents.
• Prepare legal documents for sale closings.
• Complete closings by recording and filing documents and preparing and distributing final closing statements and title.
