ERP Developer (Microsoft D365 Business Central)
About The Position
Orbus Visual Communications is hiring a full-time ERP Developer to administer, analyze, develop, and support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This techno-functional role works with management and process owners across Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Production, Shipping, Graphics, and Marketing to manage strategic and operational aspects of Business Central, with a focus on system administration and configuration, development, and technical issue resolution. The position is based in the company’s Woodridge, Illinois office. The ERP Developer leads solution design, development, configuration, and testing for Business Central enhancements and related Microsoft ecosystem applications. The role translates business and technical needs into documented solution architecture, supports system integrations, maintains third-party ERP-related solutions, resolves user issues, and provides guidance and training to end users. It also includes testing and environment refreshes, documentation, and developing reports to support cross-functional decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience as a developer for Microsoft Business Central version 24.0 or higher.
- MB-820 Business Central Developer Certification.
- Demonstrated experience with database query languages such as MS SQL and reporting or automation tools such as Power BI and Power Automate.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail.
- High energy level and willingness to learn new skills and proactively apply them.
- Ability to establish credibility, be decisive, and recognize and support organizational preferences and priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- MB-800 Business Central Functional Consultant Certification.
- Demonstrated full-life-cycle Business Central implementation experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead solution design, development, configuration, and testing for Business Central enhancements, optimizations, automations, and new functionality, as well as integrated Microsoft applications including Dynamics 365 CRM, Azure, Power BI, and Power Automate.
- Configure Business Central solutions using platform capabilities to address business needs while minimizing reliance on custom code.
- Manage configuration and setup of third-party ERP-related solutions, including Insight Works applications, EasyPost, UPS/FedEx, Avalara, and VersaPay.
- Translate business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints and document solution architecture design work.
- Support business functional leads, the Process Specialist, and the Applications & Integrations Lead in maintaining integrations between Business Central and CRM, Graphics ERP (LIFT), and e-commerce systems.
- Partner with third-party Business Central developers to understand and own customizations.
- Identify and implement improvements to system functionality and user experience.
- Assist business teams with result validation through integration testing and user acceptance testing.
- Develop and maintain current design and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve level 1 and level 2 support issues through the IT help-desk system in a timely manner.
- Provide end users with ERP best practices, tips, and training when required.
- Perform and own periodic test and production environment refreshes and other data refresh activities.
- Design and generate reports that support cross-functional decision-making.
